International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium

Taking An Exam

IC&RC examinations are developed for exclusive use of IC&RC member boards to use as part of their jurisdictionally specific certification process.

Applying to take an exam:

To apply to take an IC&RC examination, you must work with the IC&RC member board in your jurisdiction.

Each board is an independently run and operated entity with their own jurisdictionally specific processes, rules, eligibility requirements, and fees.

To register for an examination, contact the board in your jurisdiction. Find your Member Board's Contact Information Here.

Member Boards develop eligibility criteria for those taking an IC&RC examination and approve candidates to sit for an IC&RC examination. You will need to establish your eligibility with your local Member Board before you are able to register for an examination. You must work directly with your IC&RC member board to determine eligibility requirements and the examination registration process.

It is extremely important that you know your jurisdiction’s rules, timelines, and processes regarding taking an IC&RC examination. These vary, as do the fees you may be required to pay to your board. Always contact your local Member Board for questions regarding examination registration, administration, and fees.

Contact Information for all Member Boards can be found here.

Scheduling an examination date, time, and location:

After your local board has approved you to take an IC&RC examination, they will enter you into IC&RC's test registration system. You will receive an automatically generated email with instructions on how to choose your own date, time, and location for your examination.

Examinations are administered on demand at designated testing centers. Through IC&RC's scheduling platform, you will be able to choose your own examination site when you schedule your examination.

Special Notes:

  • Candidates are not permitted breaks during the exam, with the exception to use the restroom or get water unless approved for accommodations.
  • All exam in person sessions are recorded and the audio and video recordings are saved for 30 days to allow for audits and challenges.
